Workflow for Creating an Open Book
- Plan Chapter Content & Assign Co-Authors
- Outline Content: Define the key chapters, sections, and content areas needed for the book.
- Assign Co-Authors: the Pressbooks network admin will assign co-author ‘editor’ permissions (where applicable).
⬇️
- Set Up Your Book Framework
- Add Chapters: Build the skeleton structure by adding parts and chapters as placeholders for content. Watch this video how to structure your book.
⬇️
3. Practise in the Sandbox
- Sandbox Practise: All Pressbooks authors can use a practice space in Pressbooks – just contact us and we’ll get you set up to explore writing and editing without affecting the main content. Why don’t you have a go at adding or removing a chapter, adding some text or creating a sub-heading?
- Watch Training Videos: Familiarise yourself with Pressbooks by watching relevant tutorials and webinars.
⬇️
- Writing & Collaboration
- Writing: Authors start writing within Pressbooks in their sections.
- Library Support: The Library will be on hand to offer advice and guidance and training on copyright and licensing and how to make your content accessible.
⬇️
- Finalise Framework & Address Issues
- Finalise Book Structure: Ensure all sections are properly organised and all content is completed, meeting accessibility and copyright and licensing standards. The Library will help check content and support.
