In addition to our PGR teaching work, we are doing research on what ideal support in academic language and communication for PGRs could look like. We are currently recruiting PGRs at our university to complete an anonymous 15-minute online questionnaire by 25 November. You might have seen the call on TEAM Leeds Doctoral College, but if not, we’re sharing it here as well and inviting you to participate.
Reason we are contacting you
If you are a doctoral student at the University of Leeds, we are inviting you to participate in a research project titled PGRs’ development of academic language and communication: How do PGRs wish to be supported in addition to supervisory feedback? (research ethics reference number AHC FREC – 2025 2573-3132).
Who we are
This study is being done by Associate Professor Milada Walková and Professor Alex Ding from the University of Leeds and it is funded by Leeds Institute of Teaching Excellence.
Why we need you and what you will contribute
The purpose of the project is to identify desirable characteristics of education support for doctoral students’ development of academic language and communication. By participating, you will help shape doctoral education at Leeds and beyond.
Your participation
To participate in this first stage of the project, you are invited to complete an anonymous online questionnaire by 25 November 2025. The questionnaire will take you about 15 minutes to complete. The participant information sheet can be found here and the link to the questionnaire here. We offer a prize draw of 6 Amazon or Love2Shop vouchers worth £50.
If you have any questions, please contact the principal investigator at M.Walkova@leeds.ac.uk.
Thank you
